OVERVIEW

​Situated on the southern end of the spectacular Central Coast, Avoca and North Avoca are neighbouring beachfront suburbs joined by a long stretch of golden sand with tranquil lagoon. Just a short 90 minute drive from Sydney you’ll have everything you need on your doorstep for a relaxed beachside family holiday. 


THINGS TO DO

THE BEACH & LAGOON 

Avoca and North Avoca are all about the beach and beautiful lagoon. Spend the weekend relaxing at the beach, enjoying a cocktail or catching a wave. Grab the SUP or Kayak (hire at Aquafun) and take a paddle on the lagoon or throw the ball for your four legged friend in the dog friendly section of the beach.

Avoca is the busier end of the beach with a strip of shops, cafes, markets, restaurants as well as facilities such as an ocean rock pools, surf club, playground, tennis courts, SUP/Kayak hire and picture theatre. As you head north along the sand from Avoca to North Avoca you’ll enter the dog friendly stretch of the beach where you’ll find a tranquil lagoon. At the north end of the sand is North Avoca Beach where you’ll find a small convenience store, café and surf club.

EAT & DRINK

Avoca isn’t short of an option or two when it comes to food and drink. Take your pick from surf clubs, cafes, beach bars and bowlo’s. There’s even an retro Hawaiian inspired restaurant/bar tucked away in the trees.

For your morning coffee, check out Like Minds, a zero waste cafe come art space. If you’re at North Avoca, the team at Boy and Rose will take care of your caffeine cravings. For a spot of lunch while at the beach the surf club kiosks at either end are a great option, but if you prefer something more fancy then pop into Avoca Beach House for a seafood platter and an seat with a view. If you’re in the mood for takeaway tonight then our pick is All Malay for cracking South East Asian. For something a bit fun and funky head over to Shady Palms for tapas and cocktails. 

SHOPPING & MARKETS

With beachside markets, boutique stores and eclectic seconds, you’ll have plenty to spend your hard earned pocket money on.

If you need a little retail therapy make sure you check out the Avoca Beach Markets on the 4th Sunday or every month for products ranging from from local art, skincare, jewellery and international food. Alternatively, nip over to Terrigal Markets on the first Saturday of each month. Here you’ll also find boutique clothing and homeware shops. On your way back to Avoca, stop in at La Boheme Fashion and Lifestyle Boutique  for trendy threads and stylish homewares.

FITNESS & WELLNESS 

Holidays are for relaxing and unwinding so here are a few suggestions that will help get that good energy flowing.

North Avoca Holistic Wellbeing is the place to go for everything mind, body and medicine. Get a massage, book an art therapy session and feel the good vibes flow.

Earth and Sky Yoga have a great range of classes and workshops with Saturday morning Hatha being one of our faves on the schedule!

Cloud 9 Sauna is a little slice of tropical solitude tucked away between Kincumber and MacMasters Beach. The sauna is a top of the range Outdoor Clearlight Jacuzzi brand. All sessions are completely private (unless you bring a friend). Set in lush tropical surrounds, the sauna has an inbuilt sound system, chromotherapy lighting and the signature cedarwood aroma. 

KID FRIENDLY

​If you’re travelling with the kids then the Central Coast has much more than beaches and bushwalks to keep the littles ones entertained. Here are a few activities that will win you some brownie points! ​

  • Aqua Fun – Aquafun Avoca lake is home to Australia’s largest selection of pedalboats, Kayaks and standup paddle boards. Fun for all ages.
  • Kids Playgrounds  – both Avoca and North Avoca have a kids play parks to help the little ones blow off some steam. 
  • Australian Reptile Park – If you’re not one for tramping the tracks then get your guaranteed wildlife fix at The Australian Reptile park where you can cuddle a Koala, pat a python or even book a private tour.
  • Glenworth Valley – If you’re little ones need a bit more adrenaline in their day then head out to Glenworth Valley for Quad Biking, Laser Skirmish, Horse Riding and Abseiling. 
  • Treetops Adventure Park – If you have a bunch of little monkeys in your tribe then you definitely need to head over to Tree Tops Adventure park where they can swing, leap and bounce the day away.
  • The Chocolate Factory – Explore an immersive world of chocolate, nougat and much, much more. Have a sneak peak of your beloved treats coming to life through the porthole windows, or take part in a guided tour of the factory floor, and learn how our products are made. You can even get hands on with a Junior Chocolatier Workshop!

DONT FORGET THE DOG

If you’re travelling with your four-legged friend then the Central Coast will be as fun for your fur babies and it is for the family.

The Central Coast has to be one of the most dog friendly places in NSW with heaps of pet friendly accommodation.
